Mighton receive SBD accreditation

Mighton

Mighton have become one of the first companies to achieve the Secured by Design (SBD) Secure Connected Device accreditation, with four of their products achieving the required standard for both their physical and cyber security attributes.

Mighton’s Avia Key Fob, Avia Motion Sensor, Avia Smart Socket and Avia Window/Door Sensor have all achieved the accreditation.

Mighton is a family-owned business based in Cambridgeshire. Established in 1983 by Mike Derham, it is a market-leading window hardware manufacturer with over 2,000 products online. Avia is Mighton’s latest product development, the ultimate secure smart home security system available for multipoint locking doors. Designed to an extremely high standard, Avia offers complete peace of mind for a home.

Michelle Kradolfer, SBD’s IoT Technical Officer, said: “I am delighted that Mighton have become one of the first companies to achieve the Secure Connected Device accreditation and have demonstrated that their products have undergone and achieved the appropriate IoT standards and certifications. With the rise in IoT and smart devices being sold in the UK market, now more than ever it is essential for companies to play their part in ensuring IoT products are built securely to protect their consumers.

“Obtaining the Secure Connected Device accreditation builds confidence and trust in Mighton’s products and we hope that other companies within the industry and beyond will take note of this achievement and follow in their footsteps in producing safe IoT products for the UK market.”

Mike Derham Chairman of Mighton Products said “When we set about developing the Avia range, one of our primary objectives was that it had to offer the very best levels of security for both its electronic and its mechanical elements. Consumers will only trust smart products to protect their homes if they can be assured that their homes are as secure as possible. Secured by Design (SBD) accreditation is, by definition, approved to the ‘Police Preferred Specification’ and therefore the approval process is rigorous and requires products be tested to the highest standards. We are proud to have that approval and be part of the Secured by Design initiative.”
